Iphone sync troubleshooting
TR desktop plug-in required
In order to use the iPhone, you need to install the iPhone sync plug-in. This plug-in is included in version 3.0.3 and is available for free for version 2.2.1.
When you want to synchronise, you then go in TR desktop application, File menu, Sync with desktop option. The desktop application sync needs to be started (Continue button) before pressing the Sync button on the iPhone app.
IP address
The IP addresses you enter on the TR desktop sync screen and on the iPhone should be the same and correspond to the Wifi IP address of your desktop.
You should enter the IP address under the iPhone Settings screen. The setting under the TR iPhone app sync screen is not saved at the moment. It will be saved in the next version.

IP address and netmask are assigned.(image 5) The IP address should be similar to the one shown on the thinking rock sync dialog. Typically the first 3 numbers are identical and the last number identifies the computer, but other configurations are possible.
Problem: No IP address assigned
Solution: Typically the ip address is assigned by a service called DHCP. This service is usually provided by a wi-fi router. Check that the router is running a DHCP service.
Solution: If your network uses manually configured IP addresses you should assign a unique IP address and your network's netmask.
Press the back button and the Wi-Fi Networks screen shows that you are connected. (image 6)
If wi-fi is active and some applications can connect it might be a firewall issue.
One user solved his firewall issue by doing the following:
In System-Properties → Security → Firewall, added ThinkingRock.app to authorised programs.
Ping test
Ping the iphone IP from the desktop.
The command line utility “ping” can be used to ping the IP address of the thinking rock desktop application from the iphone.
You can use an application such as Network Ping Lite to test connectivity to the desktop IP.
