TOPIC: Suggestion: Yearly fees to support TR development

I like to use capable software applications with a rich feature set. Therefore I like ThinkingRock.

And after years of absence from ThinkingRock I'm thinking about using it again. But when I looked at its website and forum I was astonished how slow development went on in recent years. As I remember from the past TR is a great and reliable tool. And compared to other GTD tools it should have gained much more popularity.

But I don't want to criticize the TR development and support team. I'm sure they're doing their very best. I feel very thankful about their product.

I'm asking myself how other TR users may think about that and if they would agree to give some finacial support on a regular base. For a commercial application of this complexity and quality it is quite normal to pay some amount of money each year.

And for an application which is that important for my daily life I would very much like to spend a yearly fee (eg 30 USD) if that enables a further development and a more dynamic support for the users.

Good idea. I would support this project immediately. Adobe even takes a monthly fee. An annual fee would be helpful for the development.
There are certainly some programmers would also support you. Your time is limited.

I agree there were more updates and new features when there was an annual fee (~2010-2014)
Not sure it's linked with more development

Surely, the slow apparent development is not bringing confidence.
I'm using TR since 7+ years with great results. Still lacking feature since then, but still happy.

my top wish list is: GCal/Tasks integration/sync and rich text

I'm in of course for this kind of business, I've been using it since every day since years, I would be happy to pay a yearly fee if it helps to a constant evolving of the most important piece of software for my organization.

I think what we need is more developers to be involved. We are happy to pay them if more revenues come through a yearly subscription.
The best for us will be to engage in a partnership.

Then why not setting back the yearly subscriptions.
I'm pretty sure almost all addicted users will be glad to give some money in exchange of new regular features and improvements.

Btw, Why did TR changed to perpetual license?
