For those interested in using gmail as an easy way of getting thoughts into TR, here's one way to do it:

(1) Create new gmail account. Set up the TR e-mail settings to pull from this account.
(2) Send thoughts to your normal gmail account via: "[email protected]"
(3) In your normal gmail account, set up a filter to forward all email with a +trthought string added on to the address to the new gmail account.

Voila. You now have a dedicated channel within your normal stream of gmail that wil get to TR.

Thanks - but you're still re-sending an email so that it gets in to tasks so I don't see how it helps?
I find this effortless in gmail - I've a dedicated 'tasks' email address, using gmail key board shortcuts (F > "tasks" (autocompletes email) > tab > tab > tab+return) and its gone, shortly appearing in TR. Then still in gemail, hit 'V' to choose the folder to move the message to, out of the inbox. This means that I do not use my email inbox for any subsequent process of review, so mostly most days it gets to zero (which helps to bolster my fragile delusion of control)
So, I really hope the developers spend their energy elsewhere.

You might be right. The developers could use their time better working on other features. I just know for me, I have stopped using ThinkingRock after being a complete fanboy because the integration with email was not close enough. At the time, I was receiving 60+ emails a day, about 20-30 of them requiring between 15 and 60mins of work each. The adding them to TR just to be closed off again the same day didn't seem time effective, given how many clicks were involved from the gmail interface. Worst thing I found was that after an email was added to TR as a task, going back and trying to find that email again wasn't simple, so I was hoping that by tagging it, locating it would be easier.

So that's to say that tracking emails through TR wasn't working for me. Slowly over time, you just start leaving more and more email in the inbox thinking that it's a quick 15min task that can be done. Then slowly overtime you lose that zero-inbox.

I feel that TR is an amazing tool still, but was just too isolated from my day to days.

I only forward some emails to TR, usually the ones that I will do later or take longer to do.
