I add links to local files in note field of projects and actions. The problem is that when I run my TR under win7 64bit links do not work: when I click them windows explorer opens and that's it. Under win7 32bit it works fine.

I´m using Win7 64 bit as well but do not experience this problem.
I just checked to be sure: When i forward an email with attachments to TR they appear as Thoughts, at that point in time i can not click the link. When i have processed it i can click it and it will launch the file.
When i put a file link in manually i can also click it and launch the file.

One thing that might be different is that i launch TR by tr.exe and not tr-launcher.exe. My etc/tr.conf looks like this:
### ThinkingRock Configuration File ###

default_userdir="${HOME}/.thinkingrock/tr-3.1.1"

default_options="--branding tr --fontsize 13 --laf javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel -J-Djava.endorsed.dirs=tr\modules\ext\endorsed -J-Xms128m -J-Xmx128m -J-XX:PermSize=64m -J-XX:MaxPermSize=256m -J-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -J-client -J-Dorg.netbeans.ProxyClassLoader.level=1000 -J-Xverify:none"

jdkhome="C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6"

I changed jdkhome and memory settings (-Xms and -Xmx) as i had performance problems with TR swapping out of memory and taking lots of time rebuilding the screen when the app became active again. I do not thinkthis is related, but you never know.

Kind regards,
Bram.

I have the problem with links to local files only, not www ones. By saying local I mean files stored on my local drive, for instance: C:\Docs\italian_texbook.txt. When I add a link to this file it appears like file:///C:\Docs\italian_textbook.txt. If I try to click on such a link I have the Windows Explorer opening drive C directory. Not the file. If I do the same on Win32 it works fine.

I also meant local files.
So it will open the local file with the application that is associated to it. So .txt will be opened in Notedpad and .doc with Word.

In my case work file link too (Win7 64bit).

But my link looks like this: file:/C:/test.txt. You have three /.

Second possible reason are rights. In the root you may (in default) add files only as root. Do you start TR with admin privilegies?

I hope thats help solve the problem.

Thanks for advices,

while trying your examples, find out that problem is more specific.

The problem concerns only the links to the local files with non latin letters. (Cyrillic in my case).
