Hi everyone,

I have been using TR for the last 3 or 4 years and now I just bought the license (mostly because I want to support the development and not so much for the added functionality (of course this comes handy as well ;) ).

I use TR heavily at home and the products of this (AKA the todo list/next actions) is obviously the most important part of the whole idea behind TR and GTD. And here comes the difficult part: I want to take the list with me at work. I don't want to setup TR at work and leave my files in a local directory of a network folder and I don't enjoy using the iphone TR app as everything is very compact and it doesn't give me room to read or even do some changes on the fly.

I understand that asking for the ability to do changes in the TR iphone app might be a bit too much currently (I sure hope to see this some time very soon but I can wait) but I would really like to have the whole list with me, see it on my 24 inch monitor. I even like the size that it gets when it's printed on A4 paper but anything smaller get's annoying.

How do you deal with this problem? Do you setup TR twice? how do you make notes on actions that you have on your "next action" list but has to be changed?

(actually that's the beauty of many GTD web apps but I have too much effort invested in TR that I can't even think of a way of moving everything in any GTD web app).

Hope it makes sense ;)

Not sure i get the entire context of your question, but my method is fairly simple....and it works for me.

I use Windows 7 at work and a Mac at home.

I have TR program installed in both "locations".

I use Dropbox to store all my files (inc backup / archive).

Each App points to the "data" in Dropbox.

So one data file, more than one usable end points.

Thus if I spend time harnessing the power of "views" and refining/trying things - I usually do that at home....but when I go to work my efforts are there to be used....

Hope that helps...it seems that something similar would meet your criteria of not leaving files at work etc and have access to your list at work. I've missed the question, ask away.

HI Scott,

thanks for the reply. this is the setup that I have in mind as well but I don't want to have the files on my work computer. And if I understand well there are no security measures in TR (eg the files are plain text). That means that it will be extremely easy for other people to gain access to my data files and I really wouldn't like this ;)

No problems and yes, understand, so...to counter no data you could have your dropbox location set as a USB stick attached to your machine.

When you put the USB into your work PC it sync's to the cloud to get the latest information.

Only the TR files would be on your machine - no data at all (I revalidated on my machine)

Cheers.

USB+Dropbox sounds like a good idea!

Just to be on the safe side I would recommend searching on your computer for hidden files related to dropbox because I believe that dropbox uses some kind of caching that leaves the actual copies of the files on your computer!

Yes, if you don't change it, it's usually in your Library/MyDocs as a folder as local copies.

Hope it achieves what you are looking to get done.

cheers..Scott.
