This is also something that's occurred to me... but before you go too far, you should make yourself familiar with the 'GTD' tab and the 'Docs & Demos' tab on this website...
Another good (although a bit old) resource is 43folders by Merlin Mann, there are specific blog posts on NEXT ACTIONS and a lot of other issues...
www.43folders.com/2004/09/08/getting-sta...-getting-things-done
and specifically NEXT ACTIONS (the core of the GTD system);
www.43folders.com/2004/09/17/next-action...hysical-and-visible/
> you have to work your way around the system a few times to get it 'grooved' into your thought patterns... i.e. daily habits
> really important to understand the basic concepts behind GTD and how TR implements them... focus on the basic functions of the software, don't worry about goals etc
> really, really understand what is the difference between a THOUGHT, a NEXT ACTION, a PROJECT, a REFERENCE ITEM and a CALENDAR ITEM is...
> if I had to choose a starting point, understand NEXT ACTIONS and CONTEXTS
> and how to formulate those within PROJECTS
> then make sure you understand MIND SWEEP and INBOX functions... (you could start there but understand NEXT ACTIONS first)...
PS - one thing I picked up along the way is to *only set up next actions for those things you are ACTUALLY committed to doing in the next few weeks* the rest of those 'gunna do' things should go into the other parts of the system (you'll work out what they are, eg someday maybe, reference etc) and I have started using FUTURE PROJECTS to park things I will do in the near future (eg upgrade memory on a notebook) and which I'm planning out, but not yet committed to acting on.
