Hi,

I followed the tipps in this thread but I still can not sync.
I'm using my macbook in a wifi environement provided by a hotel, the iphone is on the same network.
iphone is set to the data provided by the desktop application, but sync is failing with..."Failed. Cannot connect to remote".

Firewall is not activated.

I tried also to setup a peertopeer network, but it did not work, same error message.

Any idea how to make this easier?

rgds,

Joe

Hi Joe,

Sorry to hear you've been having problems.

The issue with your situation is that we can't know what rules the hotel has is place around its network. It might be that they block all traffic between users on the network. Such a policy would make sense in terms of protecting hotel guests from each other.

In your case I would recommend using an adhoc network. I'm putting together a how to right now and it will be up on the wiki soon.

btw, although Mac's are less likely to have issues, I would advise keeping your firewall on.

Cheers

Hi Joe,

We have a guide up for syncing over an adhoc network.

Let us know if you're still having problems.

After about 5 minutes of tinkering (all related to laptop end firewall issues... :->) sync worked just great!

A little bit of feedback...

1) I've set up a dedicated wireless address space for sync'ing my iPhone... :-) Is there any chance that the app can be coerced into remembering the last IP address it used to sync? It seems to default to a 192.168.1.0/24 address everytime I sync... :)

2) Is there an easy way to mark Do ASAP actions "done" from the app?

3) It would be nice to be able to configure the app to start someplace else besides "collect"...

I was able to run myself into a "blind corner" at some point where I couldn't get back to the top level screen. I can't seem to duplicate the problem, but I'll keep an eye out...

Super happy with the app so far! Very cool...

Best!

Go to settings panel. There's a TR section where you can set the default values.

I think the next version we'll add the option to save the values if you change them in the app.

Working on it right now...coming soon.

There's a switch in the settings panel to start at collect thoughts or the main screen. Other options are on the wish list.

That's a new one to me, please let us know if you do manage to reproduce it.

Glad your happy. There's lots more good stuff in the works.
